The Covid-19 pandemic was not a hindrance for OPPI to celebrate the Nutrition Month by spreading awareness to its employees the prevention of malnutrition throughout the human lifecycle as well as boosting the body’s immune system.
This year’s theme of the National Nutrition Council’s “Batang Pinoy, Sana Tall. Iwas Stunting, Sama All! Iwas All din sa COVID-19!” aims to raise awareness of “stunting” which contributed to an inter-generational cycle of malnutrition and resulted to the under development of children. The term “Iwas All din sa COVID-19” was added to educate the people on how proper and good nutrition can positively affect their body’s first line of defense against the virus.
OPPI took advantage of the online platform and mobile apps to reach out to its employees. A lay forum to solve current issues on budget friendly but nutritious meals for the family and misconceptions on FAD diets were discussed. Online zumba classes and a TikTok contest aimed at promoting health awareness urged employees to shake off their sedentary lifestyle and add flavor to their usual home quarantine routine. A nutrition hotline was also provided.
As nutrition front liners, OPPI is committed to play a part in the nation’s rise from this pandemic by making sure its workforce and their families are healthy and safe. Following a healthy diet and an active lifestyle can correct and prevent malnutrition, at the same time strengthen and help the body fight off infection.
