The 14th Anniversary of the PAD Awareness Day once again proved to be another milestone through virtual celebration – it’s very first. Despite the challenges this year due to the pandemic, the strong commitment and collaborative spirit of the key societies namely the Institute for Studies on Diabetes Foundation Inc. (ISDFI), the Philippine Society of Vascular Medicine (PSVM) and the Philippine Wound Care Society (PWCS) along with their members, patient groups and advocates made the long-standing cause to spread awareness about Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and reach more patients.
Prior to the celebration last July 26, promotional efforts toward increasing nationwide participation was regularly boosted via social media platforms. The actual live streaming of the event focused on MD talks on PAD and The New Normal, Pangangalaga sa mga PAA: Peripheral Arterial Disease, and PAD & Stroke. The highly informative lectures were facilitated by distinguished speakers and experts in the field of cardiology, diabetology and neurology. Apart from shedding light about the important topics related to the risks associated with PAD, our host, Paolo Bediones engaged the speakers to a discussion.
To supplement the educational talks, there were also twists in each of the segments that aimed to provide a holistic approach to health and wellness especially helpful during this time. The cooking demo and indoor fitness activities provided practical tips for the viewers. Fun activities and the exciting reveal of the Tiktok Challenge winners were some of the highlights of the event.
Overall, the 1st virtual event was another successful run of the Annual PAD Awareness Day Celebration that reached more than 7,800 views achieving high engagements and interactions during the live event that helped spread awareness about PAD.
